Thanks for the help
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank three gentlemen at Caledonia for going the extra mile in helping with the Caledonia Day preparation. It takes many committee members and a lot of hard work to prepare for this big event in Caledonia and everyone, including these men, have done a marvelous job in getting this together this year.

On behalf of the town of Caledonia, I would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the sponsors, vendors, stage performers, street performers, and especially to all the people who showed up for another successful Caledonia Day.
Anne Freeze: Seafood is simple
We love seafood and could eat it every day if we had access. Access is the obstacle in a land-locked town, especially a small town. Even a moderate-sized town such as Athens, Ga., with 150,000, doesn’t have a seafood shop. There, we depended on our local organic grocery store, Earthfare, which at least had several deliveries a week of some of the basic fish, like wild-caught salmon or tuna. Plus, they also sold only dry-pack shrimp and scallops.
Police say shooting accidental
A shooting reported to the Columbus Police Department Tuesday has been ruled accidental.

Sunday liquor OK’d for Columbus
The Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission on Tuesday approved Sunday liquor and wine sales in Columbus, effective immediately, and extended the time allowed for weekday sales by 30 minutes.
Coroner: Clay County death was homicide
A Forest man’s shooting death in Clay County has been ruled “consistent with a homicide” following provisional autopsy results.
Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter declined further details about the Friday death of Danelle Young, 21, of 285 Hughes Road in Forest, citing an ongoing investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting was initially reported as accidental.

Boy, 14, arrested for auto break-in; suspected in others
Columbus police say a 14-year-old boy who made his getaways in his sister’s car is responsible for a wave of auto break-ins across the city.
Thursday, the boy was spotted breaking into a car in the K-Mart parking lot, at 2308 Highway 45 N., by a witness who called police. When officers arrived, he drove off in a waiting vehicle believed to belong to his sister.
