A 63-year-old man was moderately injured Monday when his pickup truck left the road, hitting a culvert and utility pole in Lowndes County.
George Pendergast, a Columbus resident, was driving his black 1990 Chevrolet 1500 west on Jess Lyons Road when he crashed at about 11 a.m., said Lowndes County Sheriff”s Office Deputy Chief Greg Wright.
Pendergast was briefly trapped in the cab before voluntary firefighters pulled him from the overturned vehicle, which was leaking fuel.
The victim was not charged in the one-vehicle crash and no one else was injured.
He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he was treated for non-critical injuries.
