OXFORD – Police have charged a 32-year-old man with breaking into homes around Oxford to steal women”s undergarments.
More than a dozen houses have been burglarized since June, with lingerie and panties being stolen in most cases.
Police say Joseph Paul Lillo was arrested Sunday and was being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
It wasn”t immediately clear if Lillo had hired an attorney. His telephone number is not listed.
Area residents like Shawn Ray were relieved that an arrest had been made in the case.
Ray said it”s “good to get any freaks off the street.”
One local newspaper had dubbed the thief the “Panty Pirate.”
