OXFORD – Former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight – the Lucedale, Mississippi, product who was a five-star recruit in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings – is transferring to Ole Miss, according to On3Sports’ Hayes Fawcett.
Knight played in two games as a true freshman this season, starting against Mercer in November. The 6-foot-4, 217-pound lefty threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns and added 162 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the performance.
Knight prepped at George County High, where he threw for 2,256 yards, 25 touchdowns and five interceptions and added another 484 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing as a senior. He was rated as the top player in Mississippi and the No. 5 quarterback in the 2025 class by 247Sports’ Composite.
Ole Miss (13-2) just wrapped up one of the best seasons in program history, setting a program record for wins and advancing to the College Football Playoff semifinals. The Rebels fell to Miami in the Fiesta Bowl 31-27. Star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who finished in eighth place in Heisman Trophy voting this season, recently had his waiver for an additional year of eligibility denied by the NCAA, though the university is appealing that ruling. Austin Simmons, who began the season as the Rebels’ starting quarterback, has transferred out of the program.
Knight will join redshirt sophomores Maealiuaki Smith, AJ Maddox and non-scholarship redshirt senior George Hamsley as the only quarterbacks on the Rebels’ roster.
