The devil has many tactics and schemes he will try to use against us to set us up. That’s why as Christians we have to stay fully dressed with the whole armor of God daily; so we will not fall for them. “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11) NIV
We often find ourselves facing temptations that seem to come from every angle. In moments such as these, we can’t let the devil set us up by giving in to them. We have to surrender to God and He will give us the strength to resist Him. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”(James 4:7) KJV
As believers we are engaged in spiritual warfare against the devil. There is no room for us to relax or let our guard down. This is the time we have to be sober and watch out for the devil. He’s looking for someone he can catch off guard so he can attack them; don’t let him set you up. “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”(1 Peter 5:8) NLT
In our weakest moments, the devil will try to tempt us to do wrong things against God. In times like these, we can’t let the devil set us up, we have to be like Jesus and speak the word of God. “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) KJV
One of the devil’s greatest desires is to keep us silent. However, we can’t let the devil set us up by being silent; we have to give God the praise that He deserves. When we praise God we’re using the weapon He gave us to silence the devil. “You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.” (Psalm 8:2) KJV
Sometimes the devil will try to use our past against us. Nevertheless, we can’t let the devil set us up by trying to get us to do the things we used to do. We have to learn from our past, move forward and don’t give the devil no place in our life. He will seize the opportunity to move in and take control. “Neither give place to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:27) KJV
So be encouraged today and always remember: Don’t let the devil set you up, use the power God has given you over him. “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19) KJV
