TARKVILLE — MSU outfielder Sierra Sacco was named a First-Team All-American by Softball America on Tuesday, adding another postseason accolade after an impressive senior season.
Sacco was also named First-Team All-SEC to cap off her college career. She is the first Bulldog outfielder to collect All-American honors since 2004, and the 11th Bulldog honored in the team’s history.
Sacco finished the season leading her team in batting average, hits, runs, home runs, total bases and stolen bases. She took a big step offensively, even after an impressive junior year. She collected 32 extra-base hits after totaling 27 through the first three years of her college career, and recorded 27 multi-hit games, the sixth most in program history.
Sacco also finishes her career having recorded no errors in 157 chances.
Sacco was drafted by the Talons alongside Bulldog teammate Raelin Chaffin into the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League.
The Bulldogs (39-19) finished their season in Lubbock, Texas, with a loss to Texas Tech on Sunday in the NCAA Regional round.
