LEARNED — Columbus Christian Academy is bringing a state championship trophy back to Steens.
The Rams’ girls won the MAIS Class 2A title against West Memphis Christian School (Arkansas) on Saturday at Rebul Academy in Learned. CCA defeated WMCS 62-50 to win the state title.
Faith Yeates scored 22 points, including 16 in the second half, to power the Rams to victory. Satavia Watkins scored 13 points and Ada Farlow added 10 as Columbus Christian captured the championship.
The Rams won four games in six days, beating Humphreys Academy on Monday, Riverdale Academy (Louisiana) on Wednesday and Delta Academy on Friday.
CCA finished its standout season with a 25-12 record.
The Rams will begin play in next week’s MAIS overall tournament at Mississippi College. They will take on Clinton Christian on Thursday.
