Starkville High School product Edzerick “Zeke” Cook made a buzzer-beating shot to give Northeast Mississippi Community College men’s basketball a 70-68 win over East Mississippi Community College on Monday in Scooba.
Cook seized a loose ball and got a friendly roll off the rim to send the Lions to their first loss of the season.
EMCC (2-1) had just tied the game with 6.2 seconds to go. Danny Washington and Nick Walker had 10 points each to lead the Lions. Hunter McCutcheon had nine, and Jakorie Smith had eight.
The Lions will play Thursday at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale.
