In a record-setting season for all of MUW’s basketball teams, The W’s Mia Bowen added one more honor to her resume this week.
Bowen, a senior guard and Buena Vista native, has been named to the NCAA Division III third team All-Region 8 by D3Hoops.com – the first-ever MUW student-athlete to make that list since the program was reinstated in 2018 and the only SLIAC player to make the team.
“Mia Bowen had a really good year for us,” head coach Eric Vaughn said. “She is definitely one of the most talented D3 players in the country. This is a big accomplishment for Mia, as well as for our school.”
Bowen joined the Owls for the 2025-2026 season from Arkansas-Little Rock and immediately made an impact in the roster. She was named a first-team All-SLIAC selection and took home the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award and finished the season as the NCAA Division III block leader with 4.2 swats a game. Bowen set the school record for blocks with 10 and set a program single-season and career record with 100. She also led the team with 17.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest on a 42.2% shooting mark from the floor.
