Mississippi University for Women softball coach Buddy Foster has announced the hiring of assistant coaches Becca Oldham and Katie Myers.
Both Oldham and Myers played for Foster when he was the head coach at Greenville University in Illinois. Oldham also will have duties within the athletics administration.
“I am very excited to have both Becca and Katie join the Owls softball family,” Foster said. “It was very important to me that I bring in coaches that understand building championship culture in a Division III environment. They both understand the importance of education and doing thing on and off the field the right way.”
A native of Greenville, Illinois, Oldham played four seasons at Greenville, earning All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades every season. The Panthers won two SLIAC titles and made two NCAA Division III postseason appearances during her career.
A two-time SLIAC All-Academic Team selection, Oldham graduated from Greenville with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science (2018) and a master’s in education (2021).
Oldham was named to the SLIAC’s “All-Decade Team” for 2010-19.
Myers graduated from Greenville University in three years, starring for the Panthers from 2019-21. Myers earned a Bachelor of Science in English secondary and middle grades education. She was a dean’s list honoree every semester.
Myers was a two-time SLIAC All-Academic pick.
Myers began coaching as an assistant travel coach for St. Louis Fusion-Hood 16/18-under (2019-2021). She also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Steeleville High School in 2020-2021.
he is currently pursuing a master’s in education at The W.
The Owls will begin the 2022 campaign this weekend, hosting Covenant College and Sewanee, The University of the South in the MUW Invitational at Don Usher Field on Friday and Saturday.
