CLINTON — The Starkville High School boys basketball team emerged victorious at the Rumble in the South tournament on Monday at Mississippi College.
The Yellow Jackets (17-4) beat Olive Branch 70-55. Wichita State signee Makhi Myles led Starkville with 23 points and added eight rebounds.
The Jackets led throughout, taking a 24-12 lead after the first-quarter on a buzzer-beating 3 by Connor Rogers. Starkville extended its lead to 37-24 by halftime.
Starkville will play Tuesday at Tupelo before hosting the Golden Wave on Friday.

The Columbus Christian Academy girls basketball team defeated Tri-State (Corinth) by a 58-25 score Monday.
Eleven different players scored for the Rams, who were led by Faith Yeates with 13 points. Ada Farlow added eight, Presley Andrews had seven, and Kaitlyn McCoy and Julia Ladd had six each.
CCA (13-8) will travel to face Hebron Christian on Tuesday.

Columbus Christian Academy 88, Tri-State (Corinth) 71
The Columbus Christian boys beat Tri-State 88-71 on Monday.
Joe Michael Edwards led the Rams with 20 points, and Mason Wright had 16.
Garrett Weathers added 11 points, Caleb McCarter had eight, and Jackson Howard and Drake Shaw had seven apiece.
