The Mississippi State men’s basketball team is still putting its roster together.
The Bulldogs got a boost Saturday when Southeast Missouri transfer guard Eric Reed, Jr. committed to MSU. Reed announced the move on Twitter.
Reed averaged a team-high 16.1 points per game for the Redhawks. The 6-foot-2 guard from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, shot 42 percent from the field and a strong 35.7 percent from deep — an important mark given Mississippi State’s struggles last season shooting the 3.
Reed also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for SEMO.
He provides much-needed depth at guard for an MSU team that has lost 10 scholarship players from last season. Reed becomes the Bulldogs’ third transfer addition after Oregon State guard Dashawn Davis and New Mexico State big man Will McNair Jr.
Reed started his career at Howard College and played two seasons for the Redhawks. He was listed as a junior last season.
