STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s basketball completed its nonconference slate on Sunday at Humphrey Coliseum, pulling away early in another blowout win with several big scoring performances.
The Bulldogs improved to 13-1 with a 112-54 win over Samford, setting a new season-high of 38 points in a single quarter, and bagging at least 20 points in each of the four quarters.
The Bulldogs posted 25 in the first and 26 in the second to take a commanding 51-26 lead into the halftime break. Madison Francis and Favour Nwaedozi were unstoppable in the paint, and Jaylah Lampley added to the size advantage from the third guard spot, and all three were in double-digit points at the midway point of the contest.
Nwaedozi led the team with a new career high of 30 points, followed closely by Lampley, 24, and Francis, 23. The trio all completed double-doubles, along with Chandler Prater.
The 38-point third quarter put the result beyond any doubt, and the Bulldogs completed the performance by surpassing 100 points for the third time this season.
Francis had a couple of opportunities to finally get her dunk, and looked to execute on the second, even if the ball bounced around a bit before going in.
MSU begins SEC play at home this week, opening against Auburn (10-3) on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at The Hump.
