In a move first reported Monday by WCBI, Heritage Academy quarterback Mack Howard, who threw for 3,475 yards and 47 touchdowns last fall, announced he is transferring to Oxford High School for his senior season.
Howard, who threw six touchdown passes to lead the Patriots to a 51-21 win over Copiah Academy in the MAIS Class 5A championship game last fall, has received several scholarship offers, most recently from the University of Utah and the University of Pittsburgh, and has drawn interest from many major programs.
Howard said playing for the MHSAA Class 6A Chargers will help wherever he plays college football.
“I love it here, but I feel this will get me prepared for the next level mentally and physically,” Howard told The Dispatch. “Thankfully, I have great friends and coaches, and they were all very understanding. Leaving here was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made.”
