NEW HOPE — It took 10 innings, but the New Hope softball team earned a 10-inning, walk-off win over Caledonia by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday in New Hope.
Kensley Woolbright led the Trojans (5-0) with four hits and drove in two runs, tying Lailah Henderson for the team lead in RBIs.
Reagan Cook pitched 9⅓ innings, and Charly Clanton pitched ⅔ of an inning. Clanton added two hits for New Hope.
Caledonia’s Carlee Dale struck out nine hitters in nine innings. Brooke Knoop led the Confederates (3-2) with three hits.
Caledonia plays at Gordo (Alabama) at 5 p.m. Thursday, and New Hope plays at Nettleton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Nanih Waiya 15, Columbus 9
The Columbus softball team lost Tuesday’s home game to Nanih Waiya 15-9.
C’Asia Grayer went 3 for 5 with a home run and two singles for the Falcons (2-1), driving in four runs.
Columbus plays at West Lowndes at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Pickens Academy (Ala.) 8, Patrician Academy (Ala.) 1
BUTLER, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) won Tuesday’s season opener against Patrician Academy (Alabama) 8-1 in Butler, Alabama.
Auburn commit Shelby Lowe pitched a complete game with 15 strikeouts for Pickens (1-0), allowing just one run, one walk and two hits. She also went 1 for 2 at the plate.
Jesse White and Caroline Lewis each drove in two runs for the Pirates, and Courtney Dudley went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
For Pickens, Carleigh Cameron and Audrey Fondren went 1 for 2, and Lily Lowery went 1 for 4.
Pickens will host Columbus Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
