OXFORD — The Starkville boys soccer team went into halftime of Monday’s match at Oxford in a scoreless tie with the Chargers.
Things didn’t stay that way.
The Yellow Jackets (7-3) scored four goals in 21 minutes, pulling away for a 4-1 win over Oxford.
Tony Shin had a hat trick for Starkville and added an assist, while Ben Buehler added a goal and an assist. Soren Voges-Haupt had a pair of assists.
In the girls match, Oxford shut out Starkville 5-0. Emma Reeder had four goals for the Chargers in the win.
Starkville will play Thursday at Grenada.

Columbus Christian Academy 56, Calhoun Academy 50
CALHOUN CITY — The Columbus Christian Academy girls held off Calhoun Academy for a 56-50 road win Monday.
Satavia Watkins exploded for 31 points, leading the Rams in victory. Carrie Kinard scored 10 points, while Ada Farlow and Shi Easterwood had six each.
Columbus Christian will host Kemper Academy on Tuesday.

Columbus Christian Academy 58, Calhoun Academy 29
CALHOUN CITY — Columbus Christian finished the sweep of Calhoun Academy with a 58-29 win in the boys game.
Ten different players scored for the Rams. Garrett Weathers had a team-high 12 points, while Joe Michael Edwards had 11.
Mason Wright scored nine points, and Drake Shaw added eight.
