The Heritage Academy baseball team split a pair of close ballgames on Friday and Saturday in Booneville.
After beating Buckhorn (Alabama) 8-7 on Friday night at Northeast Mississippi Community College, the Patriots (13-3) couldn’t finish a comeback in a 9-7, six-inning loss at Booneville on Saturday.
Mississippi State commit Aaron Downs had two hits in Friday’s win, as did Carson Hollis and Ole Miss commit Cole Ketchum. Hollis and Ketchum each drove in two runs.
Caleb Hall had four strikeouts in 5.2 innings for Heritage Academy in the win.
Downs had a home run against Booneville, and Mitchell Woodard and Ketchum had two hits each. Braden Davidson had five strikeouts in 3.1 innings, and Drew Huskison had two strikeouts in one inning pitched.
Heritage Academy will play Gautier at Biloxi High School in the Battle of the Beach tournament at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

New Hope 8, West Point 0, five innings
NEW HOPE — New Hope shut out West Point 8-0 in five innings at the New Hope Tournament on Saturday.
Kensley Woolbright pitched four shutout innings with eight strikeouts, and Madyson McBrayer had a strikeout in a scoreless frame.
Conerly Moody drove in four runs for the Trojans (4-4). Zoe Goodman and Lexie Sonak each had one.
New Hope scored seven runs in the third inning.
New Hope 5, Nettleton 1
NEW HOPE — Earlier Saturday, New Hope beat Nettleton 5-1 in the New Hope Tournament.
Kensley Woolbright led the Trojans with three hits and two RBIs, and Adi Dueitt pitched a complete game with two strikeouts.
New Hope will play Monday at the Gulf Shores Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Pickens Academy (Ala.) 10, North River Christian Academy (Ala.) 7, Friday
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) beat North River Christian Academy (Alabama) 10-7 in Friday’s home game.
The Pirates improved to 1-0 in region play.
Pickens will play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Coosa Valley Academy (Alabama).

Caledonia 9, Oak Hill Academy 5
WEST POINT — Caledonia wrapped up the week with a 9-5 win over Oak Hill Academy on Saturday in West Point.
Gavin Holloman pitched four innings and earned the win on the mound for the Cavaliers (9-1).
Caledonia scored its first three runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Cavs added two in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Oak Hill answered with four runs in its own half of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.
Caledonia will play Mendenhall in the East Central Community College tournament at 7 p.m. Monday in Decatur.
Caledonia 13, East Webster 1, five innings, Friday
MABEN — Jacob Humbers had a big night for Caledonia in Friday’s 13-1 run-rule win at East Webster.
Humbers struck out 11 batters across five innings and went 2 for 3 with a walk at the plate.
JL Lewis and Braxton Harris each had two hits for the Cavaliers. So did Carson Elliott, who had a two-run double in the fifth inning as well as a single and a walk.
Oak Hill Academy 14, Hatley 5, Friday
WEST POINT — Oak Hill scored the last 10 runs of Friday’s home game against Hatley to win it 14-5.
The Raiders posted a six-run fifth inning and added four runs in the sixth to beat the Tigers.
Nathan Harrington closed out the game on the mound for Oak Hill.
The Raiders will also head to Decatur for the ECCC tournament at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Starkville 4, American Christian Academy (Ala.) 2
STARKVILLE — Ethan Pulliam had a two-run single to give Starkville High School a 4-2 win over American Christian Academy (Alabama) on Saturday in Starkville.
The two teams got a run apiece in the first inning, and Starkville took a 2-1 lead in the third before ACA tied it up.
Starkville will host New Hope on Monday.
DeSoto Central 14, Starkville 3, five innings
STARKVILLE — A 10-run fourth inning cost Starkville against DeSoto Central earlier Saturday.
The Jaguars scored four in the first and added the 10-spot three innings later to run-rule the Jackets 14-3 in five innings.
Banks Perry had two strikeouts in three innings for Starkville.
Jackson Owen had a homer for the Jackets.
Starkville 15, West Point 3, six innings, Friday
WEST POINT — Behind four or more runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, Starkville beat West Point 15-3 on Friday in West Point.
The Yellow Jackets scored five in the fourth inning, four in the fifth and fourth in the sixth to win on the run rule.
Perry had four hits to lead Starkville. Owen had three, and Brennon Wright had two.
Kieran Coleman had six strikeouts in five innings for the Jackets. Elijah Young struck out six in three innings for West Point.
The Green Wave will play in the Northeast Mississippi Community College tournament Tuesday in Booneville.
Pickens Academy (Ala.) 26, North River Christian Academy (Ala.) 3, five innings, Friday
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) beat North River Christian Academy (Alabama) 26-3 on the five-inning run rule in Friday’s home game.
Pickens scored 12 runs in the first inning, six in the second, five in the third and three in the fourth.
Clayton Lee led the Pirates by going 3 for 4 with three doubles and five RBIs. Chandler Box also drove in five runs.
Aidan Johnson went 3 for 4 with four runs scored and two RBIs.
Lane Lowery and Clay More each had two of Pickens’ 19 hits.
Lowery struck out seven in four innings pitched, and Johnson had two strikeouts.
Pickens will play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Coosa Valley Academy (Alabama).
