Starkville Academy notched a district championship Saturday evening, taking down Leake Academy 56-40 in the MAIS Class 4A, District 2 (2-4A) tournament final at Winston Academy.
Randall Futral had 12 points, while Jawon Yarbrough and Jarius Jordan chipped in 10.
Starkville Academy will play at 4A North State at Pillow Academy next week.

Central Holmes Christian 77, Oak Hill Academy 68
In the MAIS Class 3A, District 2 (2-3A) tournament final, Oak Hill Academy came up just short, falling 77-68. Carley Wooten and Morgan Dabbs led Oak Hill with 15 points, while Mary Beth Briggs chipped in 14, Dovie Suggs scored 12 and Raylee Craven notched 10 points.
Oak Hill will begin play in the Class 3A north state tournament next week at Kirk Academy.
Columbus 52, West Point 36
The Columbus High girls basketball team took down West Point 52-36 Saturday afternoon. Makayla Rieves and Charity Yeates each had 16 points and eight rebounds apiece for the Falcons. Columbus will play the Green Wave again in the MHSAA Class 5A, Region 2 tournament semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Heritage Academy 69, Lamar School 56
In the 2-4A third-place game at Winston Academy, Heritage Academy defeated Lamar School 69-56. Trey Naugher led the Patriots with 18 points, while Jack Ketchum chipped in 15.
West Lowndes 99, Noxapater 58, Friday
NOXAPATER — Darrell Brooks scored 31 points as the West Lowndes boys beat Noxapater 99-58 in Friday’s road game.
Brooks added seven rebounds and six steals for the Panthers. Fred Rice Jr. had 22 points and nine rebounds, Jaylon Sherrod had eight points, five steals and three assists, and Josh Franklin had seven points, three rebounds and a whopping 10 steals.
The Panthers will play Nanih Waiya on Monday in the first round of the Region 1-5A tournament at McAdams.

MERIDIAN — The Starkville Academy boys soccer team’s road match Friday at Lamar School went the distance, but the Volunteers came out on top.
Andrew Pollan, Brody Bennett, Isaac Lepard, Grant Smith and Wilkes Stubbs all made their penalty kicks as the Vols earned a huge win in Meridian.
Starkville Academy will host Lamar on Tuesday.
