Je’Niecia Hill and Zariyah Edwards scored 12 points apiece as the Starkville High School girls basketball team held Oxford to single-digit scoring in each quarter in a 42-23 victory Friday night in Oxford.
The Yellow Jackets rolled to a 24-12 lead and kept expanding the lead during the second half to improve to 8-7, 2-1 in Class 6A, Region 1.
Oak Hill 51, Kirk 49: Mary Beth Briggs scored 15 points as the Raiders held off Kirk in West Point.
Kate Wheeler scored 12 points, including three 3-pointers, for Oak Hill, which took over first place in MAIS Class 4A, District 1 with the win.
Pickens 39, North River Christian 22: Kate Wilkins totaled 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Pirates.
Britney Fitch added 7 points for Pickens (10-5), which will host Heritage Christian on Tuesday.
Aisha Cousette led North River Christian with 9 points.

Starkville 64, Oxford 39: Connor Rogers led three players in double figures with 17 points as the Yellow Jackets moved to a big halftime lead and cruised past the Chargers.
Makhi Myles scored 16 points as Starkville led 13-7 after one quarter and 31-14 at the half. Kylan Baggett added 12 points for the Yellow Jackets.
Starkville is 14-3 overall, 2-1 in 6A-1.
