RL Mattix had 15 points, four rebounds and two assists to lead a steal-happy New Hope boys basketball team to a 67-47 home win Tuesday over Northeast Lauderdale.
Jaylen Smith had 12 points, four rebounds and an assist, and Duane “D.J.” Hughes had 11 points and five rebounds for the Trojans.
Freshman LJ Hackman led the team with a whopping seven steals in addition to scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds. Smith had six steals, and Gabe Dickerson had four steals to go along with his seven points.
The Trojans girls team suffered a 52-46 loss Tuesday to Northeast Lauderdale.
New Hope will host Lamar County next Tuesday, Nov. 19. The girls game will start at 6 p.m., and the boys game will start at 7:30 p.m.
Caledonia boys beat West Point; girls fall
The Caledonia boys team beat West Point for the second time this season with a 47-40 win Tuesday. But West Point won the girls game Tuesday, 54-33. No stats were available from either matchup.
The Green Wave will host Starkville on Thursday for their next game. The Confederates will host Hamilton on Friday.
