HOUSTON — RL Mattix scored 26 points and hit the tying and go-ahead free throws with a second to go, giving the New Hope boys team a 78-77 road win at Houston on Tuesday.
The lead changed four times in the final minute alone, but the Trojans (14-1) came out on top.
DJ Hughes scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for New Hope. Jaylen Smith scored 11 points and had five assists, Caleb Parr scored 10 points and had nine rebounds, and LJ Hackman had eight points and eight rebounds.
New Hope will travel to face West Point on Friday.
New Hope girls 53, Houston 49
HOUSTON — The New Hope girls beat Houston 53-49 on Tuesday in Houston.
Anna Prince led the Trojans with 15 points. Imoni Harris scored 12 points, and Juquala Sherrod scored nine points and added seven rebounds.
Columbus boys 61, West Point 25
WEST POINT — The Columbus High boys team beat West Point 61-25 in Tuesday’s game in West Point.
Tre Dismuke led the Falcons with 18 points, and Gabe Williams scored 12.
The Falcons will travel to face Grenada on Friday, and West Point will host New Hope.
Columbus girls 50, West Point 20
WEST POINT — The Columbus girls beat West Point 50-20 on Tuesday in West Point.
Aniya Saddler scored 17 points to lead the Falcons. DJ Jackson scored 11, and Nitirah Barry scored 10.
Caledonia boys 44, Mooreville 38
MOOREVILLE — The Caledonia boys team beat Mooreville 44-38 in Tuesday’s road game.
Cooper McCleskey scored 23 to lead the Confederates, and Vonta Martin scored 12.
Caledonia will host Houston on Friday.
Mooreville girls 41, Caledonia 36
MOOREVILLE — The Caledonia girls lost 41-36 to Mooreville on Tuesday in Mooreville.
Tenizia Lathan had 19 points for the ‘Feds, and Shanti Kidd scored six.
West Lowndes girls 68, McAdams 42
The West Lowndes girls beat McAdams 68-42 on Tuesday in Columbus.
Tydajasha Hood led the Panthers with 16 points. Marvaysha Seals scored 14, and Quankeria Halbert scored 10.
Starkville boys 88, South Panola 58
STARKVILLE — The Starkville High boys team beat South Panola 88-58 in Tuesday’s home game.
Coltie Young led the Yellow Jackets (14-2) with 22 points. Mekhi Myles scored 12 points, and Forte Prater scored 11.
Starkville will host Germantown on Friday.
Starkville girls 66, South Panola 64
STARKVILLE — The Starkville girls survived South Panola 66-64 on Tuesday in Starkville.
Amaya Ford led the Yellow Jackets with 29 points. Jada Odneal scored 12, and Brayland Ferguson scored 11.
Columbus Christian Academy boys 65, Newton County Academy 31
STEENS — The Columbus Christian Academy boys team beat Newton County Academy 65-31 in Tuesday’s home game.
Lawson Studdard scored 31 points to lead the Rams. Dakota Shaw scored eight points, and Will Teague, Tyler Looney and Jonathan Peal each scored seven points.
The Rams will host Calhoun Academy on Thursday.
Columbus Christian Academy girls 59, Newton County Academy 49
STEENS — The Columbus Christian girls beat Newton County Academy 59-49 on Tuesday in Steens.
Kylie Emerson had 20 points to lead the Rams. Audrey Foreman scored 14 points, and CC Devos scored 11.
Oak Hill Academy boys 60, Carroll Academy 42
WEST POINT — The Oak Hill Academy boys team beat Carroll Academy 60-42 in Tuesday’s home game.
Daniel Harrington scored 19 points to lead the Raiders (14-2).
Oak Hill Academy will host Winona Christian on Friday.
