Joe Edwards scored 14 of his 16 points during the first half on Thursday as the Columbus Christian Academy boys basketball team took a 36-15 lead and coasted to a 62-29 win over Hebron Christian School in the MAIS Class 2A North State Tournament in Steens.
Edwards and Jackson Howard each scored 5 points during a 16-4 first-quarter run for the Rams. Howard finished with 15 points, while Mason Wright and Jacob Minga each tallied 8 for CCA.
Next up for the Rams in the tournament is Regents Oxford at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
MAIS Class 4A North
St. Joseph 63, Oak Hill 53: The teams were tied during the fourth quarter before the Fighting Irish, the top seed out of District 2, pulled away from the Raiders.

Oak Hill 63, Central Holmes 31: The Raiders rolled in the first round in Batesville as Mary Beth Briggs scored 16 points for the winners. .
Twelve players scored for Oak Hill, which will now get a fourth meeting with host North Delta at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The Green Wave advanced with a 35-32 victory over Winona Christian.
Oak Hill is 2-1 against North Delta this season. Friday’s winner will face the winner of the Kirk-Marshall semifinal at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the tournament championship.
Class 2A North
Delta 44, Hebron Christian 17: In Steens, the Raiders rolled past the Eagles in their opening tournament game.
Evie Stanton scored 13 of Hebron’s 17 points, including all 5 points the Eagles scored during the first half.
