D’IBERVILLE — Seth Harris pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout as the Heritage Academy baseball team beat Pass Christian 7-0 on Thursday at the Battle of the Beach tournament at D’Iberville High School.
Harris, an East Mississippi Community College signee, struck out four batters over his seven innings pitched.
He also led the team with three hits and two RBIs at the plate. Blayze Berry and Carter Putt had two hits, and Aaron Downs drove in two runs.
Heritage Academy (9-1) will play at Harrison Central at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Gulfport.
Gordo (Ala.) 8, Caledonia 1
GORDO, Ala. — Caledonia lost to Gordo (Alabama) for the second time this season, falling 8-1 in Thursday’s road game.
The Confederates were done in by a five-run third inning; at the end of four, Gordo was up 8-0.
Thomas Tucker drove in a run for Caledonia in the sixth inning.
Loren Cox struck out two in 2⅔ innings, and Gavin Holloman struck out three in 2⅓.
Caledonia (8-4) will host Mooreville at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Starkville Academy 8, St. Aloysius 6
OCEAN SPRINGS — Starkville Academy edged St. Aloysius 8-6 in six innings Thursday at the Battle of the Beach tournament at St. Martin High School in Ocean Springs.
Colby Allen and Will McReynolds each drove in two runs for the Volunteers, and Sam Clark led the team with two hits.
Starkville Academy (9-2) will host Lamar School for a doubleheader at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Water Valley 2, West Point 1
BOONEVILLE — West Point suffered a 2-1, walk-off loss to Water Valley at the Northeast Mississippi Community College Classic on Thursday in Booneville.
The Green Wave (2-8) had been shut out until the top of the seventh, when they rallied to tie the game with a run, but Water Valley scored in the bottom of the inning for the victory.
Baker Watson struck out four in 4⅓ innings for West Point, and Rhett Ketchum pitched two innings.
The Green Wave play at New Hope at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Pickens Academy (Ala.) 12, Kemper Academy 2
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) had a big offensive night in a 12-2, run-rule rout of Kemper Academy on Thursday in Carrollton, Alabama.
Bodhi Parham went 3 for 3 with a home run for the Pirates (1-3). Hayden Dyer, Aidan Johnson and Will Noland each went 2 for 3.
On the mound, Clark Noland got the win, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts in his five innings pitched.
Pickens Academy will play at Kemper Academy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in De Kalb.
