Ty Harden went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored to fuel an 18-hit attack as the Oak Hill Academy baseball team rolled to a 12-5 win over North Delta on Thursday in West Point.
Harden drove in a run with a double and another with a single as Oak Hill (7-6) took a 9-0 lead after two innings. Garrett Edwards went 3 for 4 with a solo home run, Cameron Dill finished 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, and Collin Boyd went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs for the Raiders.
North Delta scored all five of its runs, all unearned, during the top of the fourth inning. Boyd pitched the first four innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out five, and Dill finished, striking out three and walking none while giving up one hit.
Columbus Christian 15, Regents of Oxford 0: Luke Phillips and Daniel Pate each had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Rams to a three-inning victory in Steens.
Caleb Farlow went 2 for 2 and scored three times, while Jackson Howard, Emerson Weeks and Rowe Gillis drove in two runs apiece for CCA (4-2) in their MAIS Class 2A, District 1 opener.
Jackson Howard pitched all three innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five. Seven of the Rams’ runs were unearned because of four Regents errors.
Tupelo 7, Starkville 6: A wild seventh-inning rally came up one run short as the Golden Wave held off the Yellow Jackets in Tupelo.
Three singles, three walks, two hit batters and a wild pitch on a third strike pulled Starkville to within a run before Tupelo reliever Jacobie Smith recorded the 13th strikeout of the night to end the game.
Cole Kendrick had two of the four hits for Starkville (3-8) in the Class 6A, Region 1 opener for both teams. Kendrick allowed six runs over the first two innings but then settled in, allowing one hit over three scoreless innings before Tupelo scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth.
Corinth 7, Caledonia 1: Nick Wade walked and scored on a two-out double by Josh Pitts as the Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Warriors held them scoreless the rest of the way in a Class 4A, Region 1 game in Corinth.
Pitts pitched five strong innings for Caledonia (4-9, 1-2 4A-1), allowing an unearned run in the third, as the teams went into the sixth inning tied. But the Warriors opened the sixth with a single, a triple and a double to start a six-run rally.
Pitts finished with 11 strikeouts, and his two doubles accounted for two of Caledonia’s three hits.
