JACKSON — The Midsouth Association of Independent Schools announced the rosters for its Football Futures and All-Star game teams this week, with Heritage Academy and Starkville Academy players prominently featured in both Class 5A/6A teams.
Pats players Adyn Westmoreland, Radarron Leech and Bryson Wilson were named to the All-Star team while Charlie Fowler, Xzavier Webber and Oliver Woodard were named to the Futures team.
“Can’t wait to see them compete with some of the best players in our state,” Heritage head coach Tobias Smith said. “This is a great opportunity for the guys to go showcase their individual abilities as well as get to build relationships with players that they have competed against over the years. Being selected to play in these games are a pretty special deal. I know that they will be coachable, be great teammates and play hard because I see them do it daily.”
All-Stars from the Vols team were Luke McKenzie, Kaleb Prather and Luke Johnson while Graham Hancock and Nathan Miller were named to the Futures team.
“Proud of my guys,” Vols head coach Chase Nicholson said. “Always great when you have guys get a chance to play another football game this year. I know they will represent SA well and I can’t wait to watch them play.”
The Volunteers finished the 2024 season with a 4-7 record, advancing to the playoffs as the third seed from MAIS 5A District 1. The Patriots, 5-6 on the year, also made their way into the postseason as the fourth seed from District 1.
Both teams lost in the first round of the playoffs, with the Vols losing to eventual state semifinalists Copiah Academy and the Pats losing to Simpson Academy.
