Four players recorded one goal each Sunday as the Mississippi University for Women’s men’s soccer team defeated Southwestern Adventist University 4-0 in Keene, Texas.
The W outshot the Warriors 11-3 in posting their second consecutive road shutout.
Freshman Vini Lopes’ team-leading 11th goal opened the scoring during the eighth minute for the Owls, while Paul Carneiro made a steal in the attacking third and scored to make it 2-0 at halftime.
Kai Van Court found a rebound and put in a header during the 65th minute, and Pedro Santana capped the scoring 7 minutes later with an assist from Lopes.
Owls keeper David McCutchen made both of his saves during the first half, as The W played most of the second half on the Warriors’ half of the field.
The W (4-4) and Southwestern Adventist will face each other again at 5 p.m. Monday.
Women’s soccer
Moyle scores twice in Owls’ loss
Sophomore Lindsey Moyle scored a goal in each half, but the Owls dropped a 6-2 decision to Southwestern Adventist University on Sunday in Keene, Texas.
Moyle got the Owls on the scoreboard first during the third minute, with Adrianna Parsons getting the assist. But by the time Moyle scored her second goal of the day, the Warriors had taken a 5-1 lead.
SAU outshot the Owls by a 14-10 margin. The Warriors put 12 shots on goal, with Sarah Gilliland making 6 saves for the Owls. Five of The W shots were on goal.
The W will face Southwestern Adventist again at 3 p.m. today in Keene.
