COLUMBUS — A familiar face will be returning to Mississippi University for Women baseball this season as MUW head coach Scott Mularz announced the hiring of former Owl Tanner Evans as a full-time assistant coach on Wednesday.
Evans is the first full-time assistant in program history and has plenty of recent experience with the program, playing during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
“I am very pleased to have Tanner join the Owls’ coaching staff,” Mularz said in Wednesday’s press release. “He is someone who is mature beyond his years and has a mind for the game. Additionally, he is a proven leader both on and off the field.”
Over his career at The W, primarily playing as an infielder, he hit .274 with five home runs, 32 RBIs, 15 doubles and 39 runs scored.
He finished his bachelor’s in business administration from MUW in June.
