OXFORD – Louisville star defensive lineman Mitchell Turner – the top-ranked player in Mississippi and No. 55 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ Composite – has committed to Ole Miss, according to Rivals/On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Turner chose Ole Miss over LSU, Alabama and Texas, Fawcett reports.
Turner, listed at 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, is the top-rated player in the Rebels’ 2027 class and 11th four-star commit, per 247Sports’ Composite. Ole Miss also has a commitment from the No. 2 player in the state, Choctaw County defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker, who committed to the Rebels in March, flipped to Colorado Tuesday and flipped back to Ole Miss later in the day.
Turner had 15.5 sacks and 41 tackles-for-loss as a junior at Louisville High, finishing with 103 tackles in 13 games. The Wildcats advanced to the 2025 4A semifinals before losing to Kosciusko.
Ole Miss now has the No. 20 overall recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite.
Rebels get commitment from local star
Tupelo offensive lineman Antonio Berry has committed to Ole Miss, according to On3/Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
Berry, a rising senior, is one of the top prospects in the state. 247Sports’ composite rankings list Berry as the fourth-best prospect in Mississippi – including the second-best offensive lineman – and 96th nationally.
Berry, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, played a big role up front last year for a Tupelo ground attack that rushed for more than 4,600 yards and 59 touchdowns. This year, he’ll be tasked with protecting new quarterback Drew Dean and paving the way for returning running back Kylan Bobo.
