STARKVILLE — Junior linebacker Beniquez Brown became the third Mississippi State underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft on Wednesday.
MSU confirmed a Tony Pauline (DraftInsider.net) report that Brown had declared for the draft. He joins wide receiver De’Runnya Wilson and defensive lineman Chris Jones in passing up their senior seasons to enter the draft. Jones declared Tuesday, while Wilson made his announcement last week on Instagram, but MSU hasn’t confirmed his departure.
Brown was second on the team with 99 tackles. The Florence, Alabama, native also had 11 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, and four quarterback hurries. He had 200 tackles (22.5 for loss — 10th in school history), six sacks, and three interceptions for his career.
The 2016 NFL draft will be April 28-30 in Chicago. The deadline for underclassmen to enter the draft is Jan. 18.
