Mississippi State softball players Mia Davidson and Fa Leilua were named to USA Softball’s top 50 watch list for the Collegiate Player of the Year Award on Wednesday.
It was the second honor in as many days for the pair of Bulldogs, who combined to lead all Southeastern Conference duos in home runs last year with 48. Davidson and Leilua were named preseason all-Americans by Softball America on Tuesday.
The top 25 finalists for the Collegiate Player of the Year Award will be announced April 22. The top 10 finalists will be announced May 6, the top 3 will be announced May 20, and the winner will be named May 26.
Mississsippi State will start its season at 11 a.m. Feb. 7 against Missouri State in the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The Bulldogs will face Team USA in an exhibition at 5 p.m. Feb. 7.
