Mississippi State’s top two singles players have each been named to the postseason All-Southeastern Conference teams by the conference offers, with sophomore Petar Jovanovic earning first-team honors and senior Nemanja Malesevic securing a spot on the second team.
A native of Podgorica, Montenegro, Jovanovic has a team-high 26 singles wins this year, with his individual ranking reaching as high as No. 13. He and fellow sophomore Benito Sanchez Martinez are currently the No. 12 ranked doubles team in the country and have teamed for 22 victories this year.
Malesevic, who hails from Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a second-team All-SEC honoree for the third consecutive year and earned 13 singles wins this spring, 10 of them from the No. 1 spot. His individual singles ranking reached a peak of No. 46 this year, and he is currently seventh in program history with 59 dual match singles victories.
The Bulldogs checked in at No. 16 in the latest ITA rankings, putting them on the bubble to earn a top-16 national seed and host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is Monday at 5 p.m.
