Mississippi State football will host Western Michigan in 2023 in the first meeting ever between the two schools.
And the Bulldogs will punt a previously scheduled game nearly a decade into the future in order to do so.
MSU will face WMU on Oct. 7, 2023, at Davis Wade Stadium. The Bulldogs’ game against Tulane set for that day will instead be played Sept. 11, 2032, in New Orleans.
Western Michigan finished 8-5 last season, beating Nevada in the Quick Lane Bowl. The Broncos have gone .500 or better every season since 2014.
MSU has a 30-25-1 all-time record against Tulane, but the two teams have not played since 2007.
Mississippi State will also face Southeastern Louisiana, Arizona and Southern Miss in nonconference play in 2023. The Bulldogs’ 2023 Southeastern Conference schedule has yet to be set.
