Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft, Forbes tweeted Thursday evening.
The Grenada native turns pro after a standout three-year career in Starkville.
“Deciding to play for Mississippi State has been one of the best decisions I have ever made,” Forbes’ post read. “I have grown off the field just as much as I have developed on it.”
Forbes tied for the national lead in interceptions this season with six. He set Southeastern Conference and FBS career records with six interceptions returned for touchdowns.
He finished with 14 interceptions in his career with the Bulldogs.
A number of Bulldogs have elected to return for 2023, including linebacker Nathaniel Watson, defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy, defensive end Jordan Davis and right tackle Kameron Jones.
Forbes won’t be one of them, but he’ll head to the professional ranks with a shot at being a mid-round pick or better.
