Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby added two more players to the Bulldogs’ 2024 recruiting class Wednesday, flipping defensive lineman Josaiah Knight from Illinois and securing wide receiver Sanfrisco Magee, who had committed in December.
Knight initially committed to Cincinnati last May but rescinded that commitment three weeks later, committing instead to Illinois in August. He had enrolled early for the Fighting Illini on Jan. 13, but visited MSU on Feb. 2 and picked up an offer. The three-star prospect from Tallahassee, Fla. made his commitment to the Bulldogs official on Wednesday over offers from Arkansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt and others.
“He’s an explosive athlete and playmaker whose best football is in front of him,” Lebby said in a statement. “He will be a terrific addition to our program, and we look forward to getting him to campus.”
Magee, from southwestern Mississippi, picked up his first offer from the Bulldogs in December 2022, but committed to rival Ole Miss in August. After decommitting from the Rebels in early December 2023, Magee visited MSU and Georgia Tech, choosing to stay in his home state and play for the Bulldogs on Dec. 10.
As a senior at McComb High, Magee caught 48 passes for 1,229 yards and 15 touchdowns in 12 games, helping the Tigers to an undefeated regular season. He joins a talented incoming class of receivers that also includes JJ Harrell, Mario Craver and Starkville High’s Braylon Burnside.
“We’re fired up to add another versatile playmaker to our wide receivers room in Sanfrisco Magee,” Lebby said. “He’s a Mississippi kid and a tremendous talent with all the tools to have an outstanding career in maroon and white.”
