COLUMBUS — Victory Christian Academy saw a historic performance from ace pitcher Mason Hudson on Thursday as it shut out Alabama opponents Success Academy out of Montgomery. The senior pitched a complete game for the Eagles, striking out 10 Mustang hitters in the shutout performance to give his team its first win of the season.
Hudson’s performance on the mound was boosted by a high-scoring offensive display, including a pair of hits from the senior pitcher. Hudson went 2-3 at the plate, registering two RBI on a single and a triple.
Joining the ace in the RBI column were teammates Evan Edwards, a senior who hit a grand slam, and sophomore Brody Benge, who provided four RBI on two home run swings.
The Eagles next face Heritage Christian on March 25 at home, followed by a date with Grace Christian on March 28 before the season picks up with district play in April.
