WEST POINT — The West Point High School baseball team stayed hot with an 8-2 home win over Nanih Waiya on Monday.
John Austin Ricks drove in two runs to lead the Green Wave, who used a seven-run second inning to get the win. Jordan Fitzpatrick and Tyrese Johnson also had RBIs, and Fitzpatrick and Essary led the team with two hits apiece.
Ricks struck out three in 4.1 innings pitched, and Ahmari Cox had five strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
West Point will host Columbus High School on Tuesday.

Choctaw County 13, Starkville 11
STARKVILLE — The Starkville High School softball team suffered a tough loss in Monday’s home game against Choctaw County.
The Chargers rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Yellow Jackets 13-11.
Starkville jumped out to an 8-4 lead after three innings.
The Jackets will begin postseason play Friday against Oxford.

Pickens Academy (Ala.) 12, Southern Academy (Ala.) 0, four innings
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy baseball made quick work of Southern Academy on Monday, winning 12-0 in four innings.
Bodhi Parham pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out five, and drove in three runs at the plate.
Will Noland and Clay More each drove in two runs for the Pirates. Sawyer Perrigin had three hits to lead Pickens.
The Pirates will host the second round of the AISA playoffs from April 29-30.
