NEW HOPE — The New Hope softball team dropped its opening game to Saltillo in the MHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals, 13-4. New Hope is now down 1-0 in the best-of-three series
Kensley Woolbright had four hits at the plate for the Trojans, while Adi Dueitt went 5.2 innings in the circle.
Game 2 will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Saltillo. If necessary, Game 3 will be immediately afterward.

SENATOBIA — Starkville Academy lost to Magnolia Heights in 10 innings Wednesday in Senatobia.
The Volunteers now find themselves down 1-0 in the best-of-three MAIS semifinal round.
Randall Futral had three hits on the night for Starkville Academy, while John Paul Buckner went eight innings on the mound and didn’t surrender a run.
Game 2 will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Starkville. If necessary, Game 3 will be immediately afterward.

CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) swept Crenshaw Academy (Alabama) in their best-of-three third-round AISA Class A playoff series Wednesday.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Lane Lowery had a great performance, going all seven innings on the mound. At the plate, Bodhi Parham recorded three hits.
In the second game of the doubleheader, both Aidan Johnson and Bodhi Parham had three hits, while Parham pitched seven dominant innings on the mound.
Pickens will play the winner of Coosa Valley Academy and Jackson Academy (Alabama) in the state championship at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Paterson Field in Montgomery.

Three Oak Hill players win state titles
Oak Hill Academy had three tennis players win MAIS Class 3A championships Wednesday.
John Ross Craven won in boys No. 2 singles, and Jack Easterling and Kye Tate were state champions in boys No. 2 doubles.
The Raiders’ boys team finished as the state runner-up.
