SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College announced Wednesday the hire of Alejandro Pocasangre as the newest assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer programs.
Pocasangre previously played under EMCC’s first-year head coach Chris Rash at both Pearl High School and Hinds Community College.
“I feel very fortunate to have a talent like ‘Poco’ on our EMCC soccer staff,” Rash said in Wednesday’s press release. “His friendly and calm demeanor will have a major impact on our team culture.”
Following his junior college career, Pocasangre finished up his college career at Mississippi University for Women in 2022, scoring three goals and tacking on an assist.
Previous to Hinds CC, the forward played at Jones College.
Over his four-year career, Pocasangre scored seven goals and recorded eight assists.
“I’m looking forward to working with Coach Rash and gaining a new perspective on the game,” Pocasangre said in Wednesday’s press release. “I’m excited to be here at EMCC and am eager to see what our men’s and women’s teams can accomplish.”
