STARKVILLE — Mississippi State volleyball announced Wednesday the addition of Jacksonville State transfer Zoe Gonzales.
The fifth-year middle blocker has spent the last two seasons with the Gamecocks, earning second team All-ASUN honors in 2021.
Prior to her time at Jacksonville State, Gonzales spent two seasons at Wake Forest.
“We are really excited to bring in an experienced middle like Zoe,” Mississippi State head coach Julie Darty Dennis said in a press release. “Our middles had a great spring in our gym, but we knew we need(ed) a little more depth in that position and Zoe was the perfect fit. She is a mature, poised player who has played in two great conferences during her playing career.”
Gonazles played in 24 matches in 2022, recording 128 kills and a .300 attack percentage. She also was second on the Gamecocks with 71 blocks.
Her 6-3 frame will be a big boost for Mississippi State as she is listed as the tallest middle blocker on the team.
Gonzales brings with her experience and success at the net, something Mississippi State lacked in 2022. The Bulldogs finished last season ranked No. 261 in the nation in total blocks.
