The Mississippi University for Women baseball team improved to 7-11 on the season and 4-2 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday after a doubleheader split at Blackburn College. The Owls won the first game 22-4 with a historic offensive performance before dropping the second game, 8-2.

The headline grabber for the Owls was Baron Brack, the senior outfielder who continues to rake for The W, registering a hit in all but two games so far this season. He posted a 5-RBI game two weeks ago against Fontbonne University but shattered that personal best with a school-record 8-RBI performance in Game 1 on Tuesday.
Brack hit three home runs, another school record for a single game, launching a pair of three-run deep shots and a two-run shot to help the Owls go up 20-0 by just the fourth inning.
Matthew Windham and Avery Benson each added home runs as well to the avalanche of offense for the Owls. Windham registered 4 RBIs to follow Brack’s incredible production in that column, which included seven Owls in total by the end of the run-rule win.
Landon Clark started on the mound for the Owls, going for four innings and allowing just one run with eight strikeouts to pick up his third win of the season. Relievers Loren Cox and Reilly Connor finished the job out of the bullpen over the final three innings.
Game 2 of the doubleheader was a different matter. Blackburn shot out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never let the game back into balance. Cox and Brack both registered RBIs in the fourth inning, but the Owls found nothing else on offense in the 8-2 loss.
Up next for the Owls is a trip to face Greenville University in a three-game series. Originally scheduled for the weekend, The W announced on Wednesday that the series was moved up to begin with a doubleheader today.
