The Egg Bowl has been played on Thanksgiving night in each of the last six seasons not impacted by a global pandemic, but that is set to change this fall.
Mississippi State will play arch-rival Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford on Black Friday, Nov. 29, at 2:30 p.m. on ABC. With CBS no longer part of the Southeastern Conference’s media rights deal, ABC is taking on a number of SEC broadcasts throughout the season.
The Bulldogs will open the 2024 season — MSU’s first under head coach Jeff Lebby — at Davis Wade Stadium with a 5 p.m. kickoff against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 31, streaming on SEC Network Plus and ESPN+. The following week, the Bulldogs head west to take on Big 12 newcomer Arizona State at 9:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. local time) on ESPN, after the desert sun will have set.
MSU returns to Starkville on Sept. 14 to battle Toledo at 6:30 p.m. on either ESPN2 or ESPNU before opening SEC play on Sept. 21 at home against Florida. Television windows will be announced for each of the Bulldogs’ remaining games on Jun. 11 — a change from previous seasons, when game times were typically announced just 12 days out.
