Critical of recent acts by the President
President Trump is reaching new lows almost daily now — if he is not regarded as the worst President in history in the future, I will be shocked. Consider the following:
The President fails to mention the lives lost to COVID-19 either publicly or by tweet. The US has lost 314,000 lives as of today, but it is as if the President is unaware of this. And unconcerned, unlike the leaders of other countries. Imagine if FDR had acted like no soldiers were dying during WWII! IHME now predicts the U.S. will have lost half a million people to the virus by mid-February (revised from 2 weeks ago when the 500,000 mark was projected for March 1). Silence from the President. Unbelievable.
No word from him, either, about the recently discovered Russian hacking of several federal agencies — since March. Not a peep out of the President despite others rating it as the greatest intelligence failure since Pearl Harbor. Also unfathomable.
The latest — the Trump administration announces the cancellation of all meetings with the Biden transition team for the remainder of 2020, claiming this was by “mutual agreement” although this was a surprise to the Biden team. This makes zero sense given its impact on national security, not to mention the late start on meeting in the first place. How could anyone view this as good for our country?
What IS getting Trump’s attention? The election, of course. Borne out of an unnatural desire to hold on to power. I consider the President’s behavior not just bad for the country but completely unforgivable given the situation we are in. It does make me wonder about the extent to which this country would have suffered further had he been re-elected.
The validity of these election results have been scrutinized more than any other in living memory, and President Trump lost. This is a fact that is clear to almost everyone, including most, I suspect, who voted for him.
If you know someone still inclined to support the President’s quasi-treasonous efforts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power, the feature of our government that really makes us exceptional, please try to convince them to stop.
