Concerned that some people still view pandemic as hoax
As I was reading a recent story about 500 new cases in Lowndes County, I thought about the fact that there are people today who still believe it’s a hoax.
On Dec. 12, Congressman Bob Good, a Republican from Virginia, in support of Donald Trump, said the coronavirus pandemic is phony, a false claim that brought cheers from the crowd in Washington D.C.
And, he continued, “It’s good to see your whole (no masks) faces.” That brought more cheers. This occurs when you believe conspiracies. America is losing it.
On Feb. 9, Trump said the Democrats are using the virus as a “hoax” to damage him and his administration. They tried to beat me on Russia, and it didn’t work out too well. This is the Democrats’ new hoax.
Feb. 27: Trump says the coronavirus is like the flu. One day, like a miracle, it will just disappear. One more of many wrongs.
Feb. 28: Trump rallies his base to treat coronavirus as a hoax.
Aug. 24: Trump claims Democrats are using coronavirus to steal election, arguing closures of businesses and demands for mail-in voting not driven by a pandemic that has killed 180,000 people in five months, but to defeat him. Democrats are following the advice of the scientists (which Trump doesn’t believe) like most other countries are doing.
If it wasn’t a pandemic then, with Trump’s attitude about it, it shouldn’t be any problem understanding why it is a pandemic today.
Trump’s coup is failing, but American democracy is still on the critical list.
