Believes actions in DC temporarily harm country’s standing as democracy leader
What happened Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol is a black mark on the term “democracy” that may take years to disappear. Prestige of the United States as a world leader in democratic way of life is now in shambles. Refusing to accept democratically elected officials, calling the elections fake and exciting the people to disrupt a democratic process by no one other than the head of a state is unheard of in any civilized nation. Today, authoritarian regimes like China and fragile democracies like Pakistan are smiling and feeling proud of themselves and may be patting on their own backs, looking at the instances that took place at the temple of democracy in Washington DC. It is now a tough task for the incoming administration to repair the damage done to our democracy and democratic credibility. It will be hard for the next administration to rise and give lectures to other countries on democracy. However, the democratic roots are so strong in this country that democratic institutions will rise again soon, and the USA will remain an unshaken leader of the free world.
