Asks voters to consider endorsements by scientific journals
As you consider who to vote for on November 3, please consider these recent recommendations by some of the premier scientific publications in the world. Breaking long-term tradition in scientific communities should not be taken lightly. For the first time in 175 years, the editors of Scientific American have spoken out about an election and endorsed Joe Biden for President (“The evidence and the science show that Donald Trump has badly damaged the U.S. and its people – because he rejects evidence and science. We urge you to vote for Joe Biden, who is offering fact-based plans to protect our health, our economy and the environment.”). For the first time in 208 years, the editors of the New England Journal of Medicine have made a similar recommendation (“our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent.”)
The lack of competent national leadership continues to be reflected in the repeated outbreaks of the coronavirus throughout much of the country including in the White House itself. Failures to respond effectively fall not only on the hands of this administration but also on their enablers in the houses of congress.
