Sometimes when we pray to God concerning a situation, He will answer us right away. Then there are times when we pray, He tells us to wait. Waiting is one of the hardest thing for us to do, but God will strengthen our hearts as we wait for the answer. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14) KJV
We should not fret or get upset over the way evil people prosper in their wicked schemes against us. Instead, we should rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him to deal with them. By doing this we won’t let anger, resentment or hatred build up in us. “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.” (Psalm 37:7) NLT
Waiting upon the Lord is expecting His promised strength to help us rise above life’s distractions and difficulties. Even the strongest people get tired sometimes, but God’s power and strength never stops. So the next time we feel like we can’t make another step, we have to remember God will renew our strength. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 30:31) KJV
It’s difficult to wait on the Lord when we want change right away. Nevertheless, we have to be patient and allow God to choose the best time to change our circumstances. Then, we can be like Job and say, “All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” (Job 14:14) KJV.
While we’re waiting on the Lord we need to be very careful that we keep His ways. When we do this, God promises to exalt us to inherit the land. He also assures us that the wicked will be destroyed and we will see it. “Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it”
So be encouraged today and always remember: The Lord is waiting for us to stop trying to make things happen ourselves and wait on Him. For He knows what’s best for us. “Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.” (Isaiah 30:18) NKJV
