I am not a native Mississippian, however I feel like one since I’ve been here 45 years as of Oct. 31, 2025.
I need to express my praises to our medical staff in Columbus, starting with the ambulance team, Brandon and Barry, who came to my aid on August 29 and the wonderful nurses on the fifth floor at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, who for four days and nights were my angels. Also, Dr. James Hurt, my superb orthopedic surgeon and his nurses and Dr. Matthew Made, who made sure ice packs were available as needed for pain and swelling.
My transfer to Windsor Place was truly a blessing in disguise. Everyone from the van driver to each person who did daily tasks of making beds, ensuring everyone was fed and personal needs were met deserves to be commended. All of it was done with a smile while performing as a well-oiled machine. The therapy department was not as I had imagined it, only a thousand times better. My eternal thanks to each and every one of them. I’m almost back to a normal walk.
I pray I haven’t missed anyone. If so, I’m grateful to you also. I must thank my visitors and wonderful neighbors!
