The citizens of Columbus deserve to see a nonpartisan, independent and fairly administered democratic debate between Councilman Stephen Jones and Supervisor Leroy Brooks on February 25, 2025, as planned by the Democratic Party Committee.
There is no justifiable, technical, logistical or earthly reason for Mr. Stephen Jones to back out now and deny the voters the opportunity to question his leadership record, his qualifications, and the decisions he has made over the last eight years while in office.
These decisions have dealt with property tax increases, annexation litigation, city government, personnel policies, redistricting, and public safety, as well as the Columbus Housing Authority, blighted neighborhoods and potholes.
Voters deserve this debate.
