I agree completely with Clyde Hollis’s Nov. 6 letter in support of Kenny Wiegel, director of the city’s Building Inspection Department. Here are three more points:
1. Mr. Wiegel deals with zoning, building codes and property regulations, not in personalities. He stays calm when a personality takes offense at the regulations.
2. As Mr. Hollis wrote, he explains the city’s regulations with patience and explains their impact on any contemplated property action.
3. His staff responds to citizen questions with good cheer. Their priority, increasingly rare in the country, is helping, not looking for a reason not to help.
Our city needs for Mr. Wiegel to stay on the job as long as he will.
