Over the years, I have been involved in many organizations in our community which were originally founded to help improve the quality of life for residents of Lowndes County and the surrounding communities. This brings me to the point of this letter. It’s time for the 100 Women Who Care spring giving circle to take place. Out of all the organizations designed in our area to help nonprofits, 100 WWC is the most simple and efficient at getting monies to nonprofits in need than any other organization I have been affiliated with. Twice a year all the women involved donate $100 and may nominate a nonprofit they believe is worthy of the funds being given to. All organizations submitted by members of 100WWC are put into a drawing and three organizations are drawn and nominated for a vote. The membership votes and the nonprofit receiving the most votes receive the funds. There are no corporate allocations that must be paid for staffing and administration. The organization is operated totally by local volunteers who want nothing more than to see needs met in our community that might otherwise be overlooked. It’s just that simple!
Last fall, during our fall giving circle, I nominated the Father’s Child Ministry, and they were drawn and then voted on to receive the fall funding. The Father’s Child Ministry is a local nonprofit that assists children and families that do not have a father’s presence in their lives. The funds received from 100 WWC will be used to fund their Manhood Camp and Girl Power Camp which will both be held this summer. These camps are designed for young men and women who may not have a strong role model in their lives to come and hear community leaders speak and be engaged in activities which foster the learning of ethical life lessons. The Father’s Child Ministry does not fall under any type of national umbrella and is solely dependent on local donors. The donation made by 100 WWC will make it possible for the Father’s Child Ministry to host these summer camps and in so doing touch the lives of our young people and help empower them to make wise choices based on Biblically sound principles. These camps are just 2 of the many programs the Father’s Child Ministry offers to encourage and support our youth.
To date, since 100 Women Who Care began 3 years ago, we have donated $100,000 to local organizations. The organization is open to all women in the Lowndes County area and has grown to almost 170 members. Check us out on Facebook! Any of the ladies involved in this organization would love the opportunity to tell our story and help see our membership grow as more and more nonprofits are helped with much needed funding which helps improve the quality of life in OUR community!
